Welcome to the NYCDPUG Web Site.
The formation of this users group is to increase awareness of PostgreSQL and support those that have begun using it. The meetings are scheduled to be held on the first Thursday of every other month at 5:00pm at the East Greenbush Community Library.
Past and upcoming meetings:
This site is intended to support computer professionals that are promoting the use of Open Source Software (OSS) for business and personal usage within the New York State Capital District; specifically the PostgreSQL database. Most people by now have heard of the LAMP stack. Originally referring to Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Now it refers to several OSS infrastructure components for developing web enabled applications. PostgreSQL is one of the selections for database technology. The advanced technology of the PostgreSQL database makes it a candidate for use as an enterprise class database beyond the back-end support of dynamic web pages.
But don't forget the formation of the group should also be enjoyable.
To find out more about the group you can contact us by sending a message to general-info@nycdpug.x10hosting.com.
I would like to thank the good people at X10 Hosting for their free web site hosting service.
As web master of this site I intend to add content about PostgreSQL and links to PostgreSQL related materials. I will start with some previous documents that I have authored.
